Passive Margins Abstract Guidelines

Passive margins have yielded over 100 BBOE in large simple structures within post-rift deepwater sequences.  Major discoveries are imaged on high resolution 3D-siesmic by compelling images of deepwater depositional systems supported by direct seismic evidence of hydrocarbons.  The challenge for the next wave of Passive margin exploration is to extend the search into deeper stratigraphy, to look beyond the amplitude floor and understand structural evolution, petroleum systems and implications of early break-up geology.  This challenging paradigm shift will provide the technical focus for the Passive Margin session at the forthcoming PGVII meeting.
With this backdrop, abstracts are encouraged to focus on broad regional crustal models, heat flow and petroleum systems analyses, structural evolution of passive margin sequences, through emerging and proven exploration plays and exploitation technologies, to field scale development and exploitation examples.
