Unconventional Hydrocarbons session
The Unconventional Hydrocarbons session is intended to address the
increasing importance of energy sources such as tight gas, shale gas,
heavy oil, coal bed methane and methane hydrates, and the requirement
for climate change mitigation through the geological storage of carbon
dioxide. Talks may address the key geoscientific (rather than engineering)
issues and range from broad regional hydrocarbon system evaluations,
through emerging and proven exploration plays and developments. Success
stories, particularly from North America, documenting the geological
challenges, and how they can be met, will provide insight and inspiration
for exploration and development in other parts of the world
